"Excellence is not a destination but a continuous journey."
Founded in 1962 by Dr. Eleanor Brightwood and Dr. James Ashford, Brightwood Academy began as a small independent school with a bold vision: to create an educational environment where every student is known, valued, and empowered to reach their fullest potential.
From our humble beginnings with just 47 students, we have grown into a thriving community of over 1,200 students and 150 faculty members, while maintaining the intimate, family-like atmosphere that defines the Brightwood experience.
Today, our 45-acre campus is home to state-of-the-art facilities, but our core values remain unchanged — academic rigor, character development, and service to others.
To provide a nurturing, intellectually stimulating environment that develops the whole child — mind, body, and spirit — preparing students for lives of purpose and impact.
To be the leading K-12 institution recognized for transforming students into compassionate, innovative leaders who contribute meaningfully to a changing world.
Excellence, Integrity, Compassion, Curiosity, and Community. These five pillars guide every decision we make and every relationship we build.
We believe every child is unique, learns differently, and deserves a personalized educational experience that celebrates individuality while fostering collaboration.
